A DRIVER has walked away with a scratch to his head after his car flipped over when he hit a central reservation.

The male driver and a male passenger were driving along Freebournes Road Industrial Estate in Witham when the Ford KA hit a Highways sign and spun.

Essex Police were called to the scene at about 6.15am this morning.

John Holmes from Stanway Traffic said: "The car hit into the Highways sign and lamp post, spun and then flipped over.

"There were two people in the car, we believe they had just left work. The driver had a cut to his head and the passenger had no injuries."

An ambulance was declined and the car was towed away at about 8.20am.

It is the second accident to happen in Freebournes Road within two weeks, after a passenger died when the car he was in hit a stationary HGV trailer on Friday, February 26.
