A 22-year-old man believed to be from the South Woodham Ferrers area has died after his motorbike was in collision with a Volkswagen Golf on the A132 at South Woodham Ferrers.

Police were called shortly before 8.25am today following reports of the collision which occurred while traffic was queuing on the road.

Ambulance paramedics and the air ambulance also attended to treat the motorcyclist but unfortunately he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash and a 45-year-old man from Wickham Bishops has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.

He has been taken to Chelmsford Police Station for questioning.

The road has now reopened.
