An MP has condemned strike action by teachers.
The National Union of Teachers has called for industrial action today, which is affecting some schools across the district.
Priti Patel, MP for Witham, said: “I commend the teachers that continued to work despite the strike action, those who are clearly not misled by the misinformation put out by the trade union leaders, and put their pupils before the ideologically driven agendas of the NUT.
“It is the children and vulnerable people in our society that will suffer the most from this strike action.
"I therefore urge all teachers in my constituency to spend today teaching their pupils rather than encouraging trade unions to cause so much damage to the education of our children.”
