A new supporters’ group is hoping that all fans of Braintree Town can work together to raise money to help their club move upwards and closer to the Football League.
A meeting was held at the Avanti Stadium last weekend to establish the Braintree Town Friends and Supporters Association and chairman Dave Green hopes they can work with all fans towards a common goal. Green, who is also Braintree’s kit manager, said: “We are not going to exclude anyone from this group and we’re hoping everyone will work alongside each other.
“We can all pull in the same direction because we are all supporters of Braintree Town Football Club and we all want what is best for the club.
“With a common interest, hopefully we will all pull in the same way to help move the club forwards.”
The new group has set a target of £10,000 to be raised by Christmas and Green said there were already several fundraising schemes in the pipeline, including a Christmas draw.
A Race Night is being planned to take place at the club after Saturday's Vanarama National League home game against Grimsby Town, with the first race taking place at 8pm.
A meeting is being held on October 22 to discuss further plans and Green said any supporters would be welcome to attend.
