As part of Witham Rugby Club's junior section's alliance with Premiership team Saracens, the under-eights travelled to Vicarage Road, where they played in front of more than 5,000 people at the half-time interval of the Saracens v Cardiff clash.
The small Witham squad was disadvantaged by the loss of injured stalwart William Blakemore but their spirit took them through to a 5-1 win against Hitchin.
With a great supporting team, tries came from Griffin, Mildren, Nice and two from man-of-the-match Daniel Cherrill, including one set up by youngest player Darryl Chesson.
A great day was had by all and the junior section look forward to November 26 when they will have a professional coaching session at the Saracens ground. Children interested in such events or who just want to play rugby for their town can find Witham junior section at the club in Spa Road on Sundays.
