Braintree Town maintained their unbeaten start to the season under new boss Rod Stringer with a creditable 0-0 draw at Ebbsfleet United.

The Iron made it four points out of a possible six over the Bank Holiday weekend in Blue Square Bet South, following their goal-less draw against the Kent-based side.

There had been some doubt as to whether the game would continue after the referee pulled up with an injury, with no fourth official available.

But the referee battled on and so did Braintree, to claim a good away point.

Stringer said: "We've had a tough weekend with games against Chelmsford and Ebbsfleet but to take four points out of a possible six was pleasing.

"I think if we can win our home games and pick up points away from home like this we'll be there or there abouts but it's a long season and you have to have a bit of luck along the way too.

"Ebbsfleet are a good side with experienced players and it's a nice set-up with a decent pitch, so they won't be a million miles away."
