Sean Marks scored twice as Braintree Town swept aside rivals Chelmsford City to stay second in Blue Square Bet South.

Iron comprehensively saw off their Essex rivals 3-0 at Cressing Road, in front of a crowd of 1,265.

Braintree took the lead just after the half hour mark through Marks, who followed up to score after Adam Bailey-Dennis saw his header crash against the crossbar from Brad Quinton's free-kick.

The Iron pressed for another goal in the second half and eventually got it, with 15 minutes to go.

Marks' effort was deflected in, following substitute Sam Lechmere's fine run and shot.

And Braintree wrapped up their victory in the closing stages when Bailey-Dennis headed home Lechmere's free-kick, to secure a fine win.
