LITTLE Oakley are organising a fundraiser for their defender Josh Hughes after he suffered a serious injury.

The Pitching In Isthmian League division north match at the Memorial Ground was abandoned, following Hughes's broken ankle and dislocation in the 12th minute of the Essex derby against Concord Rangers.

Hughes will undergo surgery next week and miss the rest of the season.

The injury could also affect Hughes’s ability to work for the foreseeable future.

Little Oakley will hold a Race Night fundraiser after their home game against Grays Athletic on Saturday, October 10, to support Hughes.

All proceeds will go to Hughes to help with his recovery.

The club has expressed their appreciation for any donations, which can be made via Karen Good at 07768 054345 or secretary@littleoakleyfc.com.

Little Oakley thanked Harwich and Parkeston chairman Tony Armstrong for his "generous donation towards one of our races for the evening."
