A 96-year-old care home resident has seen a lifelong dream come true after being treated to a special visit to his favourite football club’s stadium.

Ronald Hall, who lives at Mountfitchet House, in Stansted, was given a behind-the-scenes tour of Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium after staff learned of his decades-long passion for the club.

The memorable day out included a pitchside walk, a visit to the club museum and a chance to see Arsenal’s impressive trophy collection up close.

Ronald was also invited into the exclusive Diamond Club, offering him a taste of matchday hospitality at the iconic ground.

A devoted Arsenal supporter since childhood, Ronald first attended matches at just five years old with his father, Harry, and has followed the team ever since.

During the visit, he fondly recalled matches and players from years gone by, even breaking into chants of “Come on you Gunners!” throughout the tour.

Speaking after the visit, Ronald said: “I had the best day. It felt like being back home.”

The experience was organised through Care UK’s Wishing Tree initiative, which encourages residents to share personal wishes; from trying a new hobby, revisiting a favourite place or reliving past memories.

Joanna Duke, home manager at Mountfitchet House, said the day was unforgettable for everyone involved.

“It was wonderful to see how much joy the visit brought Ronald,” she said.

“Football has played such an important role in his life, and seeing him reconnect with so many happy memories was very special.

“From the moment he arrived at the stadium, Ronald was full of energy and excitement, chanting for Arsenal and sharing stories from matches he attended over the decades.

“He smiled non-stop throughout the day and continued celebrating the experience long after returning home. It was a real privilege to help make his wish come true.”
