FORMER Braintree Town boss Jamie Day has been appointed as Crawley Town’s new assistant coach.

Day, who worked as Iron manager in the 2015-16 season after taking over from Danny Cowley, has been reunited with head coach Scott Lindsey who returned to the club, last season.

Day told the Crawley website: “I am delighted to be back at Crawley again.

“This is a great club where I have already created a lot of special memories, and hopefully, we can make some more soon.

“It feels great to be working with Scott again, and we’ve already got some good work into the players alongside Neil (Smith) and the rest of the first-team staff out in Spain. We have a very talented group, and I am looking forward to seeing what the season can bring.”

Day took charge at Braintree in the summer of 2016.

He presided over 12 first-team games at the start of the Vanarama National League season but departed in the September of that season.

Day has also been first-team coach at Gillingham in 2017 and was assistant manager at Barrow, in 2018.

He became head coach of the Bangladesh national team in May 2018, guiding them to their best-ever performance in the 2018 Asian Games after they reached the Round of 16 for the first time in their history.

Day had been Lindsey’s assistant at Swindon Town before the duo took charge at Crawley, in 2023.

“Somebody I really trust, he is a very good coach and goes under the radar, but he is certainly incredible at the job he does, and we are delighted to have him back.”
