KYRELL Lisbie has left Braintree Town and signed for League One side Peterborough United on a long-term contract.

The 21-year-old, who was the Iron's 2024/25 Player of the Season, has joined Posh for an undisclosed fee on a three-year contract with the option of an additional year, after leaving the National League side.

Braintree had triggered a one-year extension on Lisbie's contract, paving the way for the move.

Lisbie scored 13 goals for Braintree last season and was named the Sportsbeat Young Player of the Year at the National Game Awards (in association with Isuzu).

Peterborough are thought to have beat off competition from a host of other EFL clubs to secure the former Cray Valley attacker’s signature.

Lisbie told the Peterborough United website: "I can't wait to get started. I am really excited to represent this great club and the supporters.

"Everybody knows how Peterborough United operate in terms of bringing young players to the club and giving them the opportunity to perform, it is down to me to take that opportunity,

"I feel that this is the right time to make the move, I enjoyed my time at Braintree, but the chance to play in the EFL is something that really excites me."

Lisbie had a brief spell playing alongside his twin brother Kyreece Lisbie at Braintree, this season.

Kyreece joined the Iron on loan and the duo played their part in helping to keep the Iron in the National League, under the management of Steve Pitt.

Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson told the club’s website: “Kyrell is a player that we have kept an eye on for the last few months.

“We have had some very impressive reports on him as well and we are pleased to get the deal done.

“He can play in different positions along the front line so that gives us good flexibility and I am looking forward to working with him.”
