COLCHESTER United promotion winner John White has taken over as Braintree Town’s new assistant manager.
The 37-year-old, who was part of the U’s team that won a historic promotion to the Championship under Phil Parkinson in the 2005-06 season, has taken over as Angelo Harrop’s number two following last week’s departure of Steve Pitt.
White, who made more than 200 appearances for home town club Colchester, has been at Braintree since joining them as a player in the summer of 2022, following his exit from Southend.

Former Southend promotion winner White has made nine National League South appearances for Iron this season.
White told the Braintree Town website: "It's brilliant to be out there with the boys, in a different role to what I've been used to over the years.

"It's great to use what I've experienced over the years and what I can bring to this management team and to be able to put it on to not just the training pitch but the game day as well.
"I think it was a fairly natural progression, with the amount of years I've been involved in the professional game and the experience I've picked up along the way and the time I've already had at this great football club, it felt fairly natural.
"It was something that I wanted to do; I didn't know when but it seems to be here and now and it's hopefully the start of something for myself and for the football club that works really well alongside each other and we can take this team as far as they can go."

On and off the pitch including those wonderful fans it’s been a real privilege & pleasure.
So many highs and so few lows in the last 19 months.
Good luck for the future 💙
