Dunmow international hockey player Chloe Rogers cannot wait to embark on her Olympic dream.

And she is bursting with pride at being able to compete in Beijing for Great Britain with fellow former Helena Romanes School student, Lisa Wooding.

The pair, team-mates at Chelmsford Hockey Club, are flying the flag for their former school, having established themselves as two of the country's leading female hockey players.

And after winning bronze at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne in 2006, Rogers said the pair have more success firmly in their sights when they push-back for the first time, at next month's prestigious event.

She said: "It's brilliant for the area and for our club that we've both been named in the squad.

"I think it's pretty much unheard of for two pupils from the same school to make an Olympics team and we're proud of that.

"I had been pushing towards it and had been in the training squad of 24 for a long time but I didn't want to take anything for granted.

"The Olympics is the best tournament that you can compete in as a hockey player.

"It's the best medal you can possibly win and you want to be the best in your given sport.

"I have always dreamt of making the Olympics and to be given the chance to fulfil that dream is wonderful for me.

"It's nice to see how people live their lives and how they prepare and perform in their sport."

The build-up to the Olympics, which begin on August 8, promises to be a hectic time for the Dunmow duo.

After attending a three-day camp in Birmingham with the rest of the Great Britain squad, they will then embark on a trip to Spain for warm-weather training, before flying out to the Far East for the start of the competition.
