YOUNG Braintree Futsal Club duo Freddie Dewar and Hadley Quattrucci shone for Great Britain when they appeared for the national side at the Under-13 World Cup in Spain.

Quattrucci and Dewar returned from their time with the Great Britain team at the C13 AMF Futsal World Cup in Catalonia having had an experience to remember.

The Great Britain side lost their opening game against Columbia 10-6, won their second game 8-4 against Switzerland and lost their final group game 17-0 to Paraguay.

That meant they had to play Switzerland again in a play-off for eighth position and the British youngsters signed off on a high as they won 10-6.

Both of the Braintree players managed to get themselves on the scoresheet in the tournament with Quattrucci scoring three and Dewar one.

Braintree Futsal Club coach Franklin Burton said: "It was fantastic to watch them play against some of the best futsal players in the world for their age.

"We are so honoured by the fact the GB selected our boys and look forward to hopefully seeing many more of our boys being selected in the future.

"Well done boys and thank you GB."

And the international experience of Braintree's youngsters isn't ending there.

The club's under-11s team are set to travel to Brittany in France to play in the Futsal Armor Cup this weekend.

It is an eight-team tournament featuring sides from France, Belgium, and North Africa and Braintree's Marley Baker-Burton, Dylan Parker, Ellis Beckett, Jude Harvey, and Harrison Sturman, who all played in the World Futsal cup in Barcelona last year, will be competing this weekend.

Burton added: "It’s an exciting prospect for the boys to play in another international tournament and a great opportunity to make some new Futsal friends."
