Manager Marc Benterman is looking forward to seeing his Witham Town players given a pre-season test when they head to Mildenhall Town tonight.

Witham continue their preparations for the BetVictor Isthmian League division north campaign with a trip to face a side who they were facing in the league last year.

It comes on the back of a 3-0 win at Tiptree Engaine last weekend and will be swiftly followed by a game at Essex and Suffolk Border League side White Notley on Wednesday and Benterman is looking forward to seeing his squad tested as the new set of players continue gelling ahead of the season.

"I wanted a strong side to test ourselves against and Mildenhall will do that," said Benterman.

"We're then heading to White Notley tomorrow, so we'll take a squad of about 16 tonight and then have around ten of those tomorrow along with some reserve players and trialists who I really want to have a look at.

"I felt we needed a test like the one that Mildenhall will provide.

"Every game has offered something different and this will be another of those; we've had good games against sides from steps six and seven and we've come through them well and Mildenhall are step five so we're looking forward to it.

"Hopefully we'll see another positive performance from the boys.

"Results are nice, but it's the performance that we're really looking for and we've been very pleased with what we've seen so far.

"I'm feeling very relaxed about things as the boys have been superb and they've done everything that we've asked of them.

"It was a very physical test on Saturday (at Tiptree Engaine) and we are getting closer to where we want to be.

"We have a squad now of 17 or 18 and we want to be around the 20 mark.

"That should be good as we also have talented boys coming through from the under-23s and reserves as well.

"So we are happy where we are and the only headache is going to be making sure we pick the right 11 as everyone is offering something different."
