WITHAM Town Football Club are celebrating a huge boost after signing their biggest-ever sponsorship deal that will see their Spa Road home re-named as the Simarco Stadium.

An initial two-year deal has been struck with Simarco International Ltd, who are one of the UK’s leading independent logistics firms.

In addition to stadium naming rights, the company's branding will appear on the first team home, away kits and tracksuits next season.

With Simarco having their headquarters in Witham, it is another important move by the club to foster ever-closer links with the local community.

New first-team manager Marc Benterman has been keen to bring players with strong Witham links into his squad ahead of the BetVictor Isthmian League division north season and chairman Mark Nicholls is delighted that the new sponsorship has strengthened the club's position in the local community even further.

Nicholls said: “This is a very exciting partnership with a local company who share our desire to be at the heart of the local community.

"In particular, Simarco’s commitment to help Witham Town FC provide our shared interest in delivering a 'one club' approach that gives an opportunity for local children to have access to football.

"The club look forward to working closely with the owner Simon Reed and managing director Trevor Scott and their staff to deliver exposure for Simarco and to continue with the development of Witham Town FC.”

Witham Town are continuing their preparations for the start of the BetVictor Isthmian League division north season next month with midweek games at Mildenhall and White Notley this week and are due to head to Thurlow Nunn League division one south side Halstead Town on Saturday.

Simarco’s managing director, Trevor Scott is delighted to be on board and said: "As a regular to Spa Road, I've been impressed with the ethos of the football club and with the commitment of its chairman and the club committee to take this club forward.

"The ambition of the club, both at senior and junior level, aligns well with the community values of Simarco.

"This made the decision to offer them our support very easy.

"There are some exciting times ahead and I'm pleased Simarco will be part of that journey."

The club thanked Village Glass who, have been the main sponsor in recent years, and in particular Perry Hubble and Jamie Baker.

Nicholls said: “Village Glass have been part of the club for many years; we thank them and have made many good friends."

After Village Glass decided not to renew their sponsorship deal, though, the Town chairman was thrilled that Simarco agreed to back the club's moves forward.

The Witham chairman added: “After a conversation with Trevor at the end of the season and after a few meetings, a two-year deal has been agreed, which is wonderful news for the club and I would like to thank everyone at Simarco for making this happen."
