There was a strong first-team presence as Braintree Town Reserves put a dent in Coggeshall United's Thurlow Nunn League division one south promotion ambitions with a 2-1 win at West Street.

The Young Irons gave run-outs to first-team players Oscar Borg, Danny Rowe, Mo Sagaf, Iffy Allen and Daniel Matsuzaka against a Weavers side who have been pressing up the table with some strong results in recent weeks.

That form has allowed them to join the title race, but Braintree goals in either half helped put the brakes on that.

Braintree took the lead in the first half and led at the interval and although George Smith levelled for the hosts, the Young Irons hit the woodwork twice after the break and snatched a winner with a spectacular effort from 30 yards in the dying minutes.
