DANNY Searle says Braintree Town’s management team are working hard to bolster their squad further in the early part of the New Year.

The Iron’s assistant manager said he and boss Hakan Hayrettin had lined up several targets who they believe will give their Vanarama National League survival bid a boost.

They have already been able to bring Cameron James back to the club on a loan deal from Colchester United this week.

And while Searle admitted tight finances mean that it may be difficult to get some of their targets on board, he was hopeful they may be able to add further depth to their squad over the festive period.

He said: “Any management team is looking to improve and the minute you settle is when complacency sets in.

“That will get into the dressing room if someone expects to play each week so we will always be looking to recruit.

“The situation we are in with regards to being part-time and having a tight budget to stick to does limit us to a certain degree.

“But the board are very supportive of what we are trying to do and we are working hard to try to bring in some new faces.

“We’ve lined a few up if we can.”
