BRAINTREE Town manager Hakan Hayrettin said he had no argument with one fan's forthright assessment after seeing the Iron succumb to a 3-0 defeat by Solihull Moors at Cressing Road.

The presence of the BT Sport television cameras failed to inspire Braintree's players, who put in an under par show over the 90 minutes, although it was a 15-minute spell directly after half-time that proved particularly damaging.

Solihull came out of the traps quickly in both halves and pinned Braintree back, but, having not found the target during a period of dominance in the first half, they punished their hosts with a trio of quickfire goals that left the Iron with no comeback.

Hayrettin had no arguments when confronted by one supporter about the lack of battle shown by his players in his first game in charge since being appointed as permanent manager.

The Iron boss said: “I made a quote before the game that we have to play with plenty of fight and a fan came up to me and let me have it.

“He said ‘where’s the fight?’ and fair play to him because there was no fight.

“He was right.

“Solihull are very good at what they do but we just didn’t have the fight.

“I’ve been trying to get it into the players and I thought I’d been doing that.

“Looking at the previous games (during a caretaker period in charge) that we’d taken points from and the Aldershot game, that I thought we deserved something from, and I thought we had got it into them.

“But against a unique team like Solihull, who play in a way that other teams at this level don’t, we didn’t and I’m having a good look at what I told them.

“We told them that Solihull would be direct and there’d be lots of diagonal balls into the box, but if you don’t compete in certain areas then you won’t get anything."
