BRAINTREE Town chairman Lee Harding has said that the club are still reviewing their options as they look to make a permanent managerial appointment.

Following the departure of Brad Quinton on October 6, Hakan Hayrettin has been leading the side in a caretaker capacity, but no decision has been made yet about who will be filling the role on a full-time basis.

Hayrettin, who was the full-time boss when the club were relegated from the National League two years ago, has overseen an Essex Senior Cup win and led the team to a 1-1 draw at high-flying Salford City as well as their first home win of the campaign when they beat Dover Athletic 2-1 last weekend.

They also bowed out of the FA Cup at Barnet two weeks ago and Harding said the club's board had made no firm decision on an appointment yet.

The Iron chairman said: "Hakan remains in the caretaker role and we are all pleased with how the team have responded to his brief time with us so far.

"Under him, we drew at the then leaders (Salford City) and then picked up three points against Dover on Saturday, so we have been pleased to see that. "But there is still a lot of work to be done and we will review it in the coming weeks."

Hayrettin will be in charge of the team when they head to Bromley tonight when they will be looking to complete back-to-back National League wins for the first time this season.

Harding said some impressive CVs had been received from applicants interested in taking the position as Iron boss full-time and these were still being looked at.

But he added that the club's board had been pleased with how players had responded to working with Hayrettin over the last few weeks, so wasn't concerned that the process of appointing a permanent manager was taking a while.

"We've had more than 150 applications come in for the position and they are still coming in now," added Harding.

"We have had some very able people apply - people with Football League experience and also with clubs at lower levels, so we have had a good selection of people.

"We're happy with the work that Hakan has done for us in the caretaker role.

"He's brought in Danny Searle to work with him and he's been doing coaching work with the players.

"Most of the players I have spoken to are looking at the present situation with open minds and most seem to be enjoying working with Hakan and Danny.

"In my experience, happy players don't worry too much and they are happy to trust the club to sort things out, but I think it's clear that they are being motivated to work hard and one prime example is Joe Ellul.

"He has certainly risen to the task and has put in some huge shifts; he has been my man-of-the-match in the last couple of games and shows that there has been a positive response."
