BRAINTREE TOWN moved off the foot of the Vanarama National League table after a precious 2-1 victory at home to fellow strugglers Dover Athletic.
The Iron started the day a point behind their Kent rivals but leapfrogged them after a much-needed win at the Ironmongery Direct Stadium.
Justin Amaluzor broke the deadlock with a goal in the 15th minute, rising to head home Lyle Della-Verde’s corner.
Kevin Lokko equalised after the break but Reece Grant slotted home a penalty in the 77th minute, after Della-Verde was brought down by the Dover keeper.
Four of the five sides above Braintree lost their games to complete a satisfying day for the Iron.
They will now hope to build on their victory when they head to Bromley on Tuesday night.
