IT was another high-scoring day in the Thurlow Nunn League – with eight goals coming in a thrilling first division south contest at WIVENHOE TOWN.

The Dragons led 4-2 against visitors Burnham Ramblers but eventually had to settle for a share of the spoils from a 4-4 draw.

Charley Cook and Connor Jones scored twice apiece for James Meadows’ side but it was Ramblers who took a 1-0 lead.

Jones then fired into the top-corner to make it all-square before heading home Myles Passley’s cross.

Cook turned on the edge of the area before rifling home but Burnham pulled one back to make the half-time score 3-2.

Cook restored his side’s two-goal advantage after the break, weaving through the visitors’ defence before slotting home.

However, Ramblers staged a fightback to pull one back and then draw level by the end of a breathless contest.

HARWICH AND PARKESTON enjoyed a fabulous 3-2 victory at home to Hackney Wick.

Early goals from Ryan Heath, from the penalty spot, and Tyler Rose set them on the path to three points before Shaun Kioussis grabbed their winner, at the Royal Oak.

COGGESHALL UNITED were another side to put three points on the board as they ran out 2-0 winners at Lopes Tavares.

George Smith scored both goals.

HALSTEAD TOWN went top of the first division south table after a 4-1 victory at home to BRIGHTLINGSEA REGENT RESERVES, on Friday night.

In the process, they completed a double over the R’s.

Kane Gilbert scored twice and he was joined on the scoresheet by Jordan Pavett and Jamie Baker.

Rocha Fosker replied for Regent.

However, Hashtag United reclaimed top spot on Saturday afternoon – moving a point clear of the Humbugs – after a 2-0 victory at HOLLAND FC.

It was their tenth straight league win, with both goals coming in the early stages.

Elsewhere, LITTLE OAKLEY suffered a 4-2 defeat at home to Wormley Rovers while BRAINTREE TOWN RESERVES slid to a 1-0 defeat at May and Baker.

In the premier division, it was a great day for both FC CLACTON and BRANTHAM ATHLETIC.

Both of the Seasiders’ goals came early in the second half, with Jordan Brazitis netting from close range before Harry McDonald cut in from the left and fired into the far corner from 25 yards.

Midweek FA Vase hero Karl Andrade hit the bar before the hosts pulled one back late on.

Given that Norwich are third in the table, this was surely the result of the day in terms of the Gazette's Thurlow Nunn League sides.

Brantham came from behind after an early penalty was converted by visitors Framlingham Town.

Joe Yaxley capitalised after a blunder by the visitors’ keeper before Craig Hughes grabbed what proved the winner, after good work from Jack Madley and Elliott Johnson.

Clacton and Brantham meet in a League Challenge Cup tie at the Rush Green Bowl on Tuesday night.

Other midweek cup ties include Holland against Halstead and Hadleigh United against Brightlingsea.
