MORE of the same is caretaker manager Hakan Hayrettin's demand to Braintree Town's players as they look to match last weekend's Vanarama National League display at Salford City when they take their first steps on this season's Road to Wembley on Saturday.

Hot on the heels of drawing 2-2 at National League leaders Salford, the Iron head to the Hive to face Barnet in the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup this weekend.

And Hayrettin knows only a similar level of application will see them progress to the first round proper against another of the National League's biggest clubs.

He said: "What the players have to do now is take what they did and do it again.

"The question for me is can they redevelop that again and again?

"I don't know if they can or not as I've only had them for a handful of training sessions, but that's what they have to ask of themselves this week - hopefully they can.

"I have identified what I feel is the team's weaknesses and strengths and I got them to play in a certain way at Salford.

"I've been changing their mentality in the sessions we've had together.

"But what a result like the one at Salford can do for players is it gives them confidence, belief and togetherness and gets them to understand what is required.

"This is very important, because we are in a team environment and no-one can be pulling in a different direction.

"I think I've ruffled a few feathers since I've come in and I feel I'm getting them to understand that.

"All I've tried to do is instil in them a focus on how to win football matches.

"We have changed the way they play and I was immensely proud of what everyone - not just the players, but the backroom staff as well - did at Salford.

"They just have to redevelop what they did.

"We had players out there getting cramp at the end as they hadn't had to work that hard this season, but they need to understand that they need to do it again.

"It's an important game to the football club.

"If we win, will it give me an opportunity to stay? I don't know, but the club are in a position (in the league) that they need to improve.

"Hopefully I have made improvements already, but we are a part-time team in a full-time league.

"I still want the job (as Braintree manager) and I've made no secret of that, but we need to do things right on the pitch and hopefully the rest will follow.

"I'm taking it one game at a time and I'm enjoying it at the moment.

"It's a big ask as we're having to change the players' mentality and they're having to get used to new things because every manager does things differently but I've been pleased with what we've done so far."
