There could be a rather different look to Braintree Town manager Brad Quinton's attacking options this time tomorrow if the changes that the Iron boss has in the pipeline go as planned tonight.

Quinton said it was “just paperwork” to get sorted and that he hoped new forward players would be being introduced to his squad at training on Tuesday evening.

He said he had had two seven-day approaches in with clubs for players – one at step two of the non-league football pyramid and another at step three – plus a loan agreement with another step two club that was on the verge of being agreed.

There is also another striker who Quinton said he was speaking about with the player’s current National League South club and he was hopeful of getting something sorted there as well.

So with potential new additions hopefully on the way and Marcel Barrington continuing to step up his recovery from surgery over the summer that has kept him sidelined so far this year, there could be a new look to the Iron’s forward unit.

"We could be looking different," said the Iron boss, whose team are currently propping up the Vanarama National League table ahead of Saturday's home game against Eastleigh.

“If we are taking our chances in games, we are in a totally different situation from the one that we find ourselves in so things have to change.

“I’m being completely honest and I’m not making excuses because we are giving teams good games but we have to be putting them away and I’ve given everyone a fair go.

“We have a young squad with the budget that we have to work with and expectations are what they are, but it is frustrating and we have to do what we have to do.

“I certainly won’t rest and I’m working so hard to get it right.

“The conversation that we’re having and other people are having is the same one that we’re having in the dressing room.

“We will have a good session at training this week and it will be a chance for players to speak openly, but I expect changes to be made this week.”
