Braintree Town manager Brad Quinton was left ruing his team’s inability to fully capitalise on the chances they created at AFC Fylde.

The Iron were beaten 3-0 on their trip to the north-west and Quinton felt they weren’t justly rewarded for their work in going forward, while their hosts demonstrated the difference a clinical edge up front can make in the Vanarama National League.

“It was very frustrating,” Quinton told BBC Essex.

“We could have had three or four in the first half but we gave away an early goal and when your luck isn’t in then you’re not getting anything.

“I’m disappointed that we didn’t score and it was tough going in 1-0 down at half-time, but there were then two very soft goals we conceded in the second half.

“They were free headers and that’s frustrating.

“We’re just not hitting the back of the net at this moment in time.

“We could have had two penalties as well if you want my honest opinion.

“It’s frustrating when you’re at the bottom and you don’t seem to get the luck.”

The defeat left the Iron still propping up the National League table and six points away from getting out of the relegation zone.

Quinton added: “It is hard when you’re near the bottom and you need that little bit of luck.

“You just have to persevering and I’d be more worried if we weren’t creating chances.

“We are but I’m just frustrated that we’re not getting that little bit of luck at the moment.

“I just have to keep encouraging them to hit the back of the net.”
