Buoyant Braintree Town boss Brad Quinton is hoping to add further strength to his Iron squad ahead of Saturday's home game against Maidstone United in the Vanarama National League.

The Iron moved off the foot of the table last weekend after securing their first win of the campaign with a 1-0 victory at Gateshead and Quinton wants to keep his upbeat side moving on an upward path.

They don't have a midweek game ahead of the visit of Maidstone to Cressing Road on Saturday (kick-off 3pm) but the Iron boss is organising a behind-close-doors match on Tuesday night to have a look at some trial players.

And he is hoping the action, that he said would be taking place away from Cressing Road, would allow him to add to his squad.

He said: "We're having an in-house game on Tuesday, which will be behind closed doors and it will be a chance for us to have a look at a few players with a view to making new signings.

"We want to add more strength to the squad if we can and we're hopefully close to at least one new signing.

"The game will feature some of the lads from the squad, but there will be quite a few new ones who we'll be looking at.

"They have been asking for chances and this will allow us to get a good look at them."
