A GOOD performance by Aythorpe Roding saw them secure their first T Rippon Mid -Essex League premier division win of season with an 83-run success against Rettendon.
Jack Stevens (19) and Shawn Hopkinson (54) put on 46 for Aythorpe's first wicket and after losing two quick wickets, Paul Gravatt joined Hopkinson and an 80-run partnership pulled them out of trouble.
Gravatt scored 43 and Andy Clarke finished unbeaten on 65 as Aythorpe Roding made 246 for seven from their 45 overs.
Some good bowling then followed as Graham Milbank took four for 50 and Joel Barnett three for 36, while Clarke claimed one for 28 and Danny Elsworth two for 29 as Rettendon were all out for 163.
Aythorpe Roding travel to league leaders Bentley on Saturday (1pm start).
