THE annual pairs match between the Kelvedon and Braintree clubs took place on Seabrooks Reservoir with Bob Cheeseman and Simon White proving the top combination

The match produced several good weights, with carp into double figures and resulted in a tight finish where one more carp to any of the top pairings could have altered the positions.

Top duo, though were Cheeseman and White as they totalled 107-6-0, while Cheeseman had the day's top weight of 92-7-0 and included a perch of 2-10-0 in his net.

Second pair were John Daniels and Adrian Robins with 90-15-0, closely followed by Gary Tisshaw and Daniel Farrar with 88-12-0.

Braintree's Friday Sweep at Notley saw plenty of fish cruising just below the surface, but feeding seemed to be the last thing on their minds.

In the event, Bob Percival had the only carp caught to go with two F1s and a bream to win with just 8-4-0.

Sections (excluding winner): 1 J Daniels 7-5-0, 2 J Loosley 3-13-0.

The final club match of the current season is at Notley on Sunday with a 9am draw.

Membership for the new season starts on May 1 and the first match will be the Society Cup to be fished on Hobbs Croft at the Fennes, with an 8.30am draw and fishing from 10am to 4pm.

Club cards will be available on the day.

Members are also reminded that anyone who was lucky or skilful enough to win a trophy with the club last year, now is the time to return it to the match secretary.
