Correy Davidson stepped off the bench and scored a late winner to take Witham Town to a 2-1 victory against Brentwood Town in Bostik League division north.
Witham had trailed to a 63rd minute Harry Gibbs goal, but got back on level terms with an own goal on 74 minutes.
They kept pressing for a winner and it came as Davidson struck in the 90th minute for a three-point haul.
The win took Witham level with the 59 points they earned last season and to within one of the 60 target set for them by boss Adam Flint to better last year’s tally.
Witham now travel to Haringey Borough on Saturday.
