THE first of this season’s Braintree and North Essex Sunday League finals saw Bocking Social Reserves stage a comeback to claim the Division One Cup with an extra-time victory against Sporting 77.

In the final at Halstead Town’s Milbank Stadium, Sporting shot into a 3-0 lead in the first 25 minutes thanks to goals from Luke Anderson, Chris Cook and Martin Brighton.

Bocking pulled a goal back before half-time through Aaron Mangan and they fought back well in the second half.

Mangan got his second of the game to make it 3-2 and it was 3-3 with 15 minutes to go when Dan Fory netted to send the game into extra-time.

And it was Bocking who grabbed the winner to cap a fine comeback to take the trophy in the first minute of extra-time when man-of-the-match Mangan netted to complete his hat-trick.

Meanwhile, in the Malcolm Foy Memorial Trophy, Dunmow Rhodes booked their place in the final when the division two side beat division one’s Great Bardfield 2-1.

Bardfield controlled the first 25 minutes and went ahead with an Adam Daniels strike, but Dunmow Rhodes fought back to equalise before half-time and grabbed a winner after the break.

Rhodes’ goals came from Jonathan Alexander and Jake Sutton.

Onley Arms kept their hopes of going through alive in the Neil Horrocks Memorial Invitation Plate with a 6-1 win against Witham Swan that came thanks to a Dean Wiffin double and goals from James Bau, Sam Phillips, Ben Collar and Harry Alexander.

Witham Swan’s scorer was Marc de la Rue.

Bocking Social moved into the the Gordon Snell Trophy semi-finals as strikes by Tyler Kemp and Mike Davies saw them beat Great Bradfords 2-0 in a fourth round tie.

In the premier division, Western Arms beat Tiptree Elite 6-4 with a Paul Wicks treble, a brace from Sam Hollocks and one from Ross Debrick.

Tiptree Elite had Scott Simmons, Mario Andrew, Carl Driver and Lewis Longdon on target.

Broomfield FC were beaten 3-1 by Witham United.

Division one saw Tiptree Jobserve move up a place to second as a Finlay Kirwan hat-trick and two goals from Josh Robertson took them to a 5-1 win at Notley, who had Jason Thompson on target.

Panfield Bell went second in division two as strikes from Liam Jeffries, Josh Peep and Ben Parker saw them to a 3-0 win at third-placed Tolleshunt Knight Eagles.

Witham Nomads took over third spot as they won 3-2 at Manor Works

Manor had Matt Stacey on target twice, but Nomads won with goals from Stuart Haynes, Sam Greenhagh and Paul Lecompte.

Witham Phoenix jumped above Great Bradfords Reserves by beating them 2-1.

Jon Flowers and Jack Violet got the goals for Phoenix, while Jack Gilgrist was on target for Great Bradfords.
