CORREY Davidson is convinced that both he and Witham Town can meet their principle targets for the season before the end of the campaign at the end of April.

Davidson struck his eighth goal of the season in Witham’s last outing - the equaliser in a 1-1 Bostik League division north draw against Heybridge Swifts two weeks ago - and has his sights set on more before the final game.

But it is not just personal glory that the 24-year-old forward is targeting as he wants to make sure Witham surpass what they achieved last season.

In the 2016/17 campaign, Town finished with 59 points on the board and Davidson feels they can better that this time around.

While there have been spells in the season when Witham’s form has been up and down, they currently have 41 points on the board with 12 games to go and 36 points to play for.

The next chance to add to their tally will come at home against Waltham Abbey on Saturday.

Davidson said: “I have set myself a goals target for the season that I feel is reachable, but there is also a target we have as a club and if we get to 60 points then that’s a goal.

“But we want to surpass that; we want to go past 60 points and be better than last season.

“That’s doable and if we can keep playing like we did against Heybridge then we can do it.

“With all respect to the league, we aren’t going to come up against any better teams than Heybridge as they are a very good side and if we can perform like that against other teams then I’m sure we can pick up the points we want.

“A few weeks ago, we had picked up a few results and it was looking good, but we’re in a bit of a dip at the minute.

“You just have to keep working hard to get yourself out of that.

“A few weeks ago we were talking about the play-offs and now we’re talking about just pushing up the table as far as we can.

“Realistically the play-offs would be a very very big push because we’d be relying on a lot of other teams, which isn’t ideal.

“All we need to do is keep going and see what points we can pick up.

“If it happens that we get to the play-offs then great.”
