AN amazing round by Sean Kelly saw him win the Sunday Stableford by a street in windy conditions at Braintree Golf Club.

The club’s Leslie Wood team captain, playing off six handicap, piled up 44 points with his nearest rivals trailing eight points in his wake.

His handicap was subsequently cut to five.

Second on 36 points was scratch man John Bradford, while there was a countback on 35 points to decide third spot with the verdict going to Matt Procter (8) ahead of Derek Codling (17).

The Saturday Stableford was a much closer affair, with Tim Streamer signing for 36 points off a handicap of nine.

Second place went to Phil Edwards (10) on countback from Gavin Bradley (10), both with 35 points while a further countback on 33 points saw Tony Craven (5) take fourth place ahead of Kevin Carling (10).

The ladies’ midweek stableford, a three clubs and a putter event over ten holes, saw Jenny Humphries, playing off 22, take top spot on countback from Liz Kahn (32), both with 20 points.

There was a further countback on 18 points to decide third place, with Wendy Olney (36) edging out Maureen Woollcott (27).
