THE year ended well for Julian Collop as he won Braintree and Bocking Angling Society's New Year's Eve Sweep on Hobbs Croft at the Fennes.
Collop caught small skimmers for most of the match duration, weighing a total of 19-7-0 at the end.
Second on the day and winner of A section was Dean Field, who had skimmers on the tip at first and then added roach on the pole for 16-8-0.
Jamie Derry won B section with 7-7-0 thanks to two decent bream to go with his roach.
The club's Friday Sweep at Notley proved if you are in the right place and do the right thing you can catch carp in the winter.
They often sit in a ball at this time and Kevin Howell had three in three casts mid-match.
He then added number four towards the end for an easy win as he weighed 32-10-0.
The silver fish did not feed too well and Jim Loosley needed just 0-11-8 to win the pool.
