IMOGEN Newby showed that she is hitting form at the right time ahead of the Junior National Outdoor Championships by claiming another county archery crown.
The Braintree Bowmen member had an eventful and extremely successful weekend both individually and on team duties for Essex.
Competing in strong winds at Noak Hill in Romford at the Essex Archery Association Junior Championships, the 13-year-old from Halstead remained the undefeated champion.
She retained her under-14 Ladies' Bristol IV Recurve title with a score of 1,212 from a maximum 1,296.
Then after a night with not much sleep after a trip to an Olly Murs concert in Colchester, Newby had an early start to head to Meopham in Kent where she was representing Essex in an Inter-County match at Vigo Rugby Club.
It was another long day where blustery conditions made things difficult for the archers, but, despite having had little sleep the night before, Newby showed her class by shooting four county records and falling just nine points short of her personal best.
Unfortunately Essex were unable to field a Barebow team so lost the match, but they did win the Junior, Senior Recurve and Senior Compound matches.
Next up for Newby are the Junior National Outdoor Championships on July 1 and 2 and she is now back in hard training for a high-pressure two-day event.
