Braintree Bowling Club’s Malcolm Stark and Chris Long finished their season on a high by taking the North West Essex Pairs trophy at Elsenham.
It was an extremely hard-fought final against two strong players from Silver End – Karl Lodge and Adrian Papple.
The early ends went the Silver End pair’s way as they took an early 10-1 lead, but Stark and Long started to gradually reduce the deficit and finally ran out winners in a close finish, winning 23-21 at the end.
It was a victory that continued Braintree Bowling Club’s success in this competition as they have taken the pairs title four times in the past six years.
