Witham Town assistant manager Brad King expects them to make full use of their squad over the coming weeks as they look to work their way through their Ryman League premier division fixture backlog.

Town are due to start that task today as they host high-flying Margate at the Village Glass Stadium (kick-off 3pm), but they are still up to six games in arrears of other sides in the top flight.

Witham have been busy adding more depth to their squad this week to help with the backlog of games with former Chelmsford City winger Evans Kouassi coming in along with ex-Colchester United trainee Jordan Pavett, former Chelmsford keeper Niklas Freund and Vinnie Durrant from Bowers and Pitsea.

All of them played a part in Town’s Robert Dyas League Cup defeat by AFC Sudbury in midweek - that they lost in a penalty shootout after the game had ended 1-1 - and King said he expected all to be utilised over the next few months.

He added: “We have better strength in depth now after bringing in a few of the boys recently, but we’re going to need them all.

“That depth in the squad is going to be massive for us.

“We just have to take each game as it comes.

“The one positive is that the teams below us have played games and are still behind us on points.

“They have a big amount to do in their remaining games and that’s a positive.”
