Witham Town’s unbeaten start to life in the top flight of the Ryman League isn’t about to start going to the heads of their players.
A 4-2 win at Hampton and Richmond Borough last weekend was followed by a 1-1 home draw in their derby against Essex rivals Grays Athletic on Tuesday.
It means the premier division new boys are still unbeaten after their first four games in the top flight and they will be hoping to extend that on Saturday when they travel to Harrow Borough before hosting Leiston on Bank Holiday Monday (kick-off 3pm).
However, midfielder Danny Emmanuel insists they won’t get carried away with the start they have made. He said: “The last thing you want to do in a league like this, especially as a promoted team, is get ahead of yourself.
“That’s not what we’re doing.
“We’re not dreaming of promotion or winning the league.
“We’re just here to let everyone know that we’re capable of performing at the top level, which is what we are doing.”
