A THIRD of homes under construction at a plush £125million seafront development have been sold before they are even complete.

Many of the properties at the Clifftown Shore development on Southend seafront have already been snapped up.

It comes as Property Market Index researched data from seaside hotspots to create a top 20 list of areas which reveal where Londoners are buying up property.

Southend was listed as number eight in the top 20 list.

There was also a list of four areas which have had major investment and developments, and Clifftown Shore was included.

The project, on the site of the former Esplanade Pub, will see 51 apartments built with a restaurant and cocktail bar on the ground floor.

Bosses at developer Beyond the Box, which is behind the project, say it is on track to be complete for November with a third of the homes already sold.

The developer also says there’s been interest from across the country, including London, and mainly from Southend buyers.

A new help-to-buy scheme is also being launched for the homes - offering buyers the chance to put down a deposit as little as £14,750.

James Struth, managing director of Clifftown Shore, said: “It’s an exclusive situation for young buyers who can secure their apartment with a deposit as little as £14,750 thanks to Help-to-Buy.

“We have had a fantastic amount of interest from Southend people who are really attracted to the lifestyle Clifftown Shore offers.”

The new high-end development will offer a range of one, two and three bed homes and penthouses too.

The one bedroom homes are priced at £295,000 to £435,000, with a three bedroom penthouse on the market for £575,000.

Mr Struth added: “Whether they are downsizing or looking to make their first step on the property ladder, buyers are coming to Clifftown Shore because of its stunning sea and landscaped park views, room service and exclusive restaurant.

“We have had interest from across the country, but it is great to see the majority are people who live locally and want to continue to enjoy what Southend and Clifftown Shore has to offer.”

The ambitious seafront development has been five years in the making, but development bosses say the project is on schedule to be completed on time in mid-November.

As part of the help-to-buy scheme, interested buyers who book a Covid-safe appointment will be welcomed to the exclusive development with prosecco on Saturday, May 29 to view the show apartments.

There will also be mortgage advisors to offer financial advice.

The new restaurant and cocktail bar on the ground floor will be run by Elysium Group and there will also be a green living roof. Construction workers have been on site as work continues on the new development.
