A new state-of-the-art building is taking shape at Southend Hospital.
The Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust has released new images of the modular building, which is now fully in place at the hospital.
It has been put together ‘like a giant Lego set’, according to bosses.
The building has been put together by joining interconnected sections with the help of a crane.
Bosses say work will now begin on the interior of the building ahead of its grand opening next month.
It will include same-day emergency care facilities on the ground floor, a trauma and surgical assessment unit on the first floor and a patient discharge lounge on the second floor.
The Mid and South Essex Trust tweeted updated pictures of the building yesterday, and added: “It’s great to see that the final piece of our new building at Southend Hospital has been placed.
"We’re excited to see it develop over the next month to be ready for staff and patients in April."
