A woman was sexually assaulted after being grabbed by a man in the street.

The victim was attacked in Inverness Avenue, Westcliff during the early hours of yesterday, when she was grabbed by a man and sexually assaulted.

The man is described as wearing a grey jumper and dark blue tracksuit trousers.

Detective Inspector Lisa Hurrell, from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, said: "Incidents like this are rare but we know that the community will understandably be concerned.

"Our officers will continue to be in the area and encourage anyone who has concerns to speak to us.

"We want who saw or heard any unusual or suspicious activity in or around the area of Inverness Avenue between 11.30pm on Wednesday 28 October and 1.30am on Thursday 29 October to get in contact with us.

"We are particularly keen to hear from those with CCTV, dash cam or doorbell footage."
