A BAR in Westcliff has banned its MP for life after he voted against a motion to allow eligible children to have free school meals during school holidays.

Ramen and Chill in Hamlet Court Road, Westcliff has told Sir David Amess, MP for Southend West, that he is not welcome back after he and fellow Tory MPs voted down the Labour motion last week.

The motion is now synonomous with England strike Marcus Rashford - which would have guaranteed free school meals for eligible children outside of school terms.

The news comes as protestors staged a demonstration outside Mr Amess' office in Leigh over the weekend against the decision by Downing Street.

A spokesman for Ramen and Chill posted on it's Facebook page: "Sir David Anthony Andrew Amess Southend MP that voted against free meals for kids on half term is officially BARRED FOR LIFE FROM RAMEN CHILL.

"He’s not got ya backs kids, we have and the amazing people of Essex."

The bar has started its own appeal for donations to help get packed lunches prepared for children in need.

Since the appeal last week, it has had more than 36,000 emails and now has enough donations to give out 600 packed lunches.
