A number of south Essex theatres and entertainment venues have been given a lifeline as the Government hands out more cash.
The Arts Council and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport have today announced funding awarded through Round 2 of the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund: Grants – including £1,795,784 for seven organisations across Essex Basildon's Towngate Theatre has received £279,713, the Thamesides Theatre in Grays was given £191,176, Chinnerys in Southend was given £55,000, Caddies Comedy Club was given £180,000.
The Government says on the East of England this investment will help save 51 theatres, galleries, performance groups, arts organisations, museums and local venues facing the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic, to ensure they have a sustainable future and continue to bring joy to communities and international audiences.
