A planned A13 closure for this weekend, due to the major widening project has been cancelled, a council has announced.

Thurrock Council has confirmed this weekend's A13 closure will not take place. The road was due to be shut due to the work to widening of the A13 from 2 to 3 lanes in both directions between the A128 and the A1014.

The council announced the closure cancellation on Facebook.

When complete, the widened section will join with the existing three-lane section of the A13, west of the A128. As part of the work, four bridges will be replaced, the Orsett Cock roundabout will be widened and new traffic lights will be installed to help manage vehicle flows. Public bridges will be built and opened before the old bridges are demolished.
