An attempted murder investigation has been launched after reports of a woman being hit by a vehicle at an Amazon distribution centre.
A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after the incident at the Amazon warehouse in Tilbury.
Emergency services were called to the warehouse in Windrush Road at around 9.35am yesterday.
It was reported that one woman had been involved in a crash with a vehicle, while a second female victim was assaulted.
Both women, who were both Amazon employees, were rushed to hospital by paramedics.
In a statement, an Essex Police spokesman confirmed that one of the women suffered "serious injuries".
Officers investigating the incident have now arrested a 29-year-old man from Greenwich, on suspicion of attempted murder and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
He remains in police custody following the incident.
An Amazon spokesman said: "This is a terrible incident and our thoughts are with our two employees who were injured. We will do all that we can to assist the police investigation.”
