A MAN and two teenagers have been arrested after an attempted break-in on farmland.

Police made the arrests following reports of people trying to break into a container in Stock around 6.30pm on Thursday (July 9).

Officers later stopped a vehicle in Lodge Lane, Grays, at 9.50pm in connection with the incident.

They seized bolt croppers and screwdrivers from the vehicle.

A 15-year-old boy from Grays was arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary, theft of a car and driving without insurance or a licence.

A 21-year-old man from Grays and a 17-year-old man from Basildon were arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary.

While in custody, an officer reported that one of the men made comments towards him and he was further arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated intentional harassment.

All three were eventually released under investigation.
