A TRANSPORT museum will shut for the rest of the year, with no public events until 2021.
The Canvey Island Transport Museum on Point Road shared the news on its Facebook page yesterday, highlighting the ongoing uncertainty and concerns of the coronavirus pandemic.
A spokesman said: "We deeply regret that we have taken the difficult decision to keep the museum closed to the public for the remainder of the 2020 season.
"This is - as you will understand - because of the ongoing Covid-19 situation and how this affects our volunteer members, and the need to observe strict requirements for social distancing.
"We are also postponing all our public events until 2021, when we plan to return with a new programme that's bigger and better.
"This means we will not be holding our August 'Transport Spectacular' or September 'Model Railway Show & Craft Fair' this year.
"Our first priority is to protect the health and safety of visitors to the museum, those attending our larger events, and our small group of volunteer members.
"We do plan to use the time - when we can - to improve a number of things at the museum so we can re-open in 2021."
