HEAVY machinery weighing nearly four tons was found dumped in a road.
Essex Police officers made the discovery of a pick-up truck and construction vehicle in Runwell yesterday morning.
Officers from the Chelmsford team had chased the pick-up truck, a white Toyota Hilux, from the city and into Runwell, where it was abandoned.
The driver has not been caught.
The Toyota was dumped next to the green construction vehicle, weighing 3.8 tons.
Both vehicles are believed to have been stolen, and have been seized by police.
Enquiries are ongoing to find the owners of the vehicles and detain the parties responsible for their theft.
