A man has admitted a string of offences including 25 for shoplifting and one for grievous bodily harm.

Jack Hills, 26, has been charged with 25 thefts and one attempted theft, all from shops in the Southend and Westcliff area between December last year and March.

He was charged with causing grievous bodily harm after he fled from one scene in February and knocked an elderly woman to the ground. She broke her pelvis in the fall.

Hills, of Westborough Road, Westcliff, was also charged with two counts of breaching a community behaviour order in December and January, and one count of possession of cannabis.

He admitted the offences at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 2 April.

Hills was jailed for 21 days for the criminal behaviour order breaches and is due to be sentenced for the remaining offences at Basildon Crown Court on Thursday 30 April.
