A SCHOOL in Benfleet was closed yesterday over Coronavirus fears.

It has been confirmed that a member of staff at The Glenwood School in Rushbottom Lane, Benfleet, returned from one of the category two areas and has placed themselves in isolation.

It is believed that the school was being deep-cleaned.

It is not listed as being closed today. 

Concerns have been raised at a number of Essex schools since it was revealed several pupils and staff from different schools have returned from school trips in Italy.

Stock Church of England Primary School, in Ingatestone also closed following advice from Public Health England.

As of February 26, a total of 7,132 people have been tested in the UK, of which 7,119 were confirmed negative and 13 positive, according to Gov.uk

If you have returned from northern Italy, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, or Myanmar, since February 19 and develop symptoms, however mild, you should stay indoors at home and avoid contact with other people immediately and call NHS 111. 

Based on current evidence, coronavirus (COVID-19) presents with flu-like symptoms including a fever, a cough, or difficulty breathing.
