CREWS are at the scene of fire, believed to be at the back of a fishmongers.
Flames were reportedly seen emerging from V Mattacks, in Elm Road, in Leigh, who have been a fishmongers in the town for over 100 years, this morning.
Lady McAdden, a breast cancer charity shop, has had to close temporarily this morning due to the fire.
A witness told the Echo that traffic was heavily affected on Elm Road, with cars stopped by the Sarah Moore pub.
A spokesman for the Essex fire service, said: "Firefighters were called to a fire in Elm Road this morning.
"On arrival, crews reported that two outbuildings were on fire and had spread to adjoining fence panels.
"The fire then spread to the roof space of an adjoining shop.
"Crews were able to contain the fire and prevented it from spreading further.
"Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire by 10:47 am.
"The two outbuildings were completely destroyed and the adjoining roof space was damaged internally and externally.
"An investigation will be carried out to determine the cause of the fire."
